ART LESSON FREEBIE: INK BLOT OR PAINT DROP

Try out this ink blot mini art lesson that is a great creative and warm up exercise for your learners. A fun activity for all ages. Possibilities are endless to what can be created when children's imaginations are encouraged to explore. From abstract to detailed art images. Read the lesson below:

OBJECTIVES

• Nurture creative intelligence.
• Provide opportunity for problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Support fine motor skills.

MATERIALS

• ink or paint
• paper of any size, texture or weight
• brush, preferably ones with thicker bristols to hold in or paint
• drawing tools - pen, pencils, markers, or sharpies...etc

STEPS

1. Dip brush in ink or paint. Making sure to soak the brush.
2. Hold wet brush over paper and wait for ink or paint to drip off of brush and onto paper.
3. A blot or splatter should be formed.
4. Wait for ink or paint to dry.
5. Grab drawing tools to create drawings from the ink blots or splatters.

​TIPS: Play music to encourage different forms of strokes (i.e upbeat music for faster drawing strokes).
