During this Christmas season, help send the simple gift of a shoebox filled with gifts for a child in need. This is a great way to get your children involved and have them live out the true meaning of kindness. Children can track where their gifts end up and even make a new pen pal from across the globe! I hope that you'll get involved and participate. Visit Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child for more details or check your local community/church to see if they are already involved to pick up a shoebox and list. The last day to pack a shoebox is November 19 and I hope you have fun! God bless and have a wonderful holiday season.

Sometimes crafts and art projects do not have to be planned out or with step-by-step instructions. With children, all we need to do is provide the materials, tools and environment and just allow them to create freely. My 6 year old sweet girl is quite happy with this piece and I encourage you to do this with all ages.
*Materials used are card stock paper, craft sticks, and markers (you can use any drawing tools). She also used a magnet alphabet and legos for the vehicle. Hey there! I hope your summer has been fun with family and friends. I'm excited to share a new Homeschool Category for those parents that are interested or already committed to homeschooling. My goal is to share tips, books, activities, links and ideas that I've learned along this new journey of homeschooling. I'm a newbie to this journey and have so much to learn but hope to share any tips along the way that has been helpful. I can tell you that there are times when it's difficult (where I want to throw in the towel) and times when it's fun. When I am challenged, overwhelmed and scared, I try to remind myself the why's of why we have chosen this path for our children's education and I also read (online) experiences of veteran homeschoolers if I am not able to connect with the homeschooling moms I know and are meeting. We are fortunate to live during a time where information is available even though all the available information can be daunting. Therefore, I hope that the information that I share with you will help to encourage you along your own journey. Also, the activities and art resources that I've created are great to use during your own home education day if you're interested in creative art activities and printables. Just remember that your choices will be what's best for your children/family and try to lean on God during those difficult days of resistance, challenging attitudes and tears (sometimes mom tears and not just the kids:-/). The one thing I've learned so far during those difficult periods of educating my children, is that in my weaknesses, God equips me and teaches me to let go of perfectionism and trust Him to guide me. Still working on this...with this said, hope you will find a good rhythm to your home education.
Who doesn't love ice cream during the summer?! Enjoy this quick drawing lesson to share with your students or kiddos. Get creative and add more details, then color and have fun!

My 7 year old is a big electronics kid and I found the bored jar idea to be a great tool to help him not be so eager to jump on the screen when he is bored. When he does announce his boredom (which is a few times a day), I respond with, "That is great that you are bored, now lets see what you can do!" I'll either encourage him to imagine something, play or pull a card out from our bored jar (image above). The bored jar idea cards include art activities, household chores, outdoor play, indoor play, and learning activities. There are 135+ ideas, 1 blank page to add your own ideas and 2 pages of bored jar idea labels. Once the kids are older, you can add different activities to suit their age. I hope you have fun and that these are helpful during down time! Enjoy! You can download this freebie below. If you have a Teachers Pay Teachers account, you can download it here and I would love your feedback! Thanks and have a great day!

Mandalas are so beautiful to look art and I am often reminded of how they look like stained glass windows. Mandala art is defined as "a complex abstract design that is usually circular in form. Mandala is a Sanskrit word that means circle (ref. Art-Is-Fun). This style of art is a great way to introduce some art concepts such as lines, shapes, patterns, positive and negative space and color. Below is an example of what they actually look like.
